ShelX 2014/1

Author: OlexSys Ltd/08 February 2014/Categories: News, Documentation, Olex2 Setup

Recently, there has been an update of ShelX called 'ShelX 2014/1'. We assume that more of these updates will happen in the future, and it isn't feasible to track all of these different versions. So we have changed the way Olex2 handles the ShelX executables: From version 1.2.5 onwards, Olex2 will recognise the following (on Windows, Linux users please excuse the inclusion of the '.exe' part in the description below, but it does make it clearer!):
  • standard shelx program names (shelxl.exe, XL.exe, shelxs.exe, XS.exe, shelxd.exe, XM.exe etc) - you choose which ones you wish to use, but we recommend to use the latest version!
  • these specific filenames: shelxl97.exe, shelxs97.exe and shelxd97.exe
This means: In the relevant drop-down box you will find the specific shelxl-1997' choice ONLY if you have an executable called shelxl97.exe somewhere on the path. The choice called ShelXL will refer to the first executable that's found on the path. You are in charge of which version this will be!
